Nike Factory

Nike - Company History
Nike was originally called Blue Ribbon Sports and was founded in 1964. Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman were distributors for Japanese shoe maker Onitsuka Tiger and most of their sales were from the boot of Knight's car, at track meets. By 1966 they had opened their first retail shop which was in California. By 1971 they decided to launch their own line of footwear. The first shoe which featured the Swoosh (tick) was a soccer shoe called 'Nike'. In 1972, Blue Ribbon Sports launched a whole range of Nike shoes and then in 1978 they decided to rename the brand - Nike.

Nike Dunk - History
Nike Dunks were first introduced in 1985. They were re-released in 1998 and since have become very popular shoes. The initial designs were all classic university colours but soon after Nike released the regular styles. Nike Dunks became popular amongst skateboarders due to their lower profile soles and stability for riding and doing tricks. Nike eventually released a special Dunk for skateboarding called the Nike Dunk SB. Now, the Dunk SBs are available worldwide and are collected by enthusiasts all over. Some of the limited colourways sell for over $1000 as they are produced in such small numbers. At the release of the Nike SB 'Pigeons' a small riot broke out which shows how much people want the rare pairs.

Nike Air Force One - History
Nike Air Force Ones were first released in 1982. They were discontinued in '83 but then re-released in 1986 in the style we know and still wear today! Nike Air Force Ones (or AF1's they're sometimes known as) are extremely popular trainers and urban music artists have been wearing them for years. Since their release over 1,700 different variations have been made. Like the Adidas Superstar, some of these have been produced in very small numbers making them highly collectable sneakers!
